Battlefields in Halland

Around 350 years ago, Halland belonged to Denmark. It did not become part of Sweden until 1645 under the Second Treaty of Brömsebro – initially for thirty years and then permanently under the Treaty of Roskilde of 1658. The treaties were preceded by 80 years of warfare between Denmark and Sweden, with Halland often being the theatre of war. Today, the battlefields in Halland are marked by memorial stones and information boards.
