Kalle Baah
July 18, 2013Kalle Baah is a Swedish reggae group from Skärblacka and one of the foundation pillars of music society Blacka Musik. The group got together at the end of the 1970s. On the day Bob Marley died in 1981, they brought their instruments out to a vacant house lot to perform a memorial concert. (The concert is still held in the village cultural centre.) July 20, 2013Caroline af Ugglas is a Swedish artist and pop and soul singer. In 2009 she won second place in the Swedish Eurovision heats with the song ”Snälla, snälla". She released her platinum-selling album ”Så gör jag det igen” the same year, becoming the best-selling female performer of the year. In 2010 she released the album ”Vad var det jag sa”. In 2013 she is releasing a new album once again, and this summer she's headed out on tour.

Gyllene Tider Summer 2013 in Halmstad
Sweden’s largest and most beloved pop band, Gyllene Tider from Halmstad, are ready once more to brighten the Swedish summer with a new studio album, Dags att tänka på refrängen (Time to think of the refrain), a new greatest hits compilation, Soldans på din grammofon (Sundance on your Gramophone) and a major tour.Linnea Henriksson, also from Halmstad, is a guest artist on the tour. The tour kicks off at Marknadsplatsen in Halmstad on 5 July. Gyllene Tider will also play in Halmstad on 7 August.

Join us and celebrate 400 years of peace

On 20 January 1613, peace was made at a crossroads between Knäred in Halland and Markaryd in the county of Småland, ending the Kalmar War. This historic event came to be known as the Treaty of Knäred. January 2013 sees the 400th jubilee of this historic occasion. Laholm and Knäred have started to gear up for the jubilee and are planning celebrations to take place throughout 2013. The aim is to have 400 activities over 7 months.
Swedish Championships 2013

Following the success of the summer 2011 event, Halmstad has once again been given the honour of staging this fantastic festival of sport. The Swedish Sports Confederation and SVT have chosen Halmstad to be the host city of the Swedish Championships Week in summer 2013. Both major and minor sports will be represented, including swimming and athletics.
UEFA Women’s European Football Championships 2013

Sweden will be hosting the UEFA Women’s European Football Championships in 2013 and Halmstad will be one of the six host towns. The tournament will run from 10 to 28 July 2013 with three group matches and one quarter final played in Halmstad.
