Experience the farm setting, hear about its history and buy lambskin, wool and yarn in the farm shop

At the 18th-century historic building of Knapegården in Onsala, you can experience the proximity to the sea and enjoy northern Halland’s coastal environment with cliffs, mountains and shore meadows.

The old captain’s estate now breeds sheep with lambs and has retained the old farm setting. Take a spinning course and learn to spin on a traditional spinning wheel. The farm shop sells lambskin, wool, yarn and other products from the farm.

Experience seal safaris in the seal reserve in the archipelago outside the farm.

Listen to the exciting history of the farm mixed with building conservation on a guided tour of the traditional dwelling house.

Overnight accommodation is available in the cottage, which is for hire.

In the farm shop you can purchase beautiful lambskins, wool, yarn and farm produced handicrafts etc. Available in season.

No set opening hours, the shop opens upon arrival of customers. Please call ahead to avoid driving unnecessarily.

Services and activities

Book a seal safari, arranged from the beginning of June to the end of August from the farm. The safaris are led by Sea Captain Axel and last for approx two hours, with a maximum of four passengers per tour.

The farm also arranges 2-days spinning courses for interested persons and each course takes five persons. The newly renovated farm cottage is available to hire per night or week.

Råö Lammgård welcomes groups of visitors of 8-16 persons to see part of the current manor farm, which dates from the year 1754 (declared a historic monument in 1994).

Seal safari

Book a seal safari to the big colony of harbour seals on the western side of the Onsala Peninsula. The safari is led by Captain Axel and lasts for approx two hours. Maximum four adult passengers.

The tour comprises a visit to the inner seal isles outside Råö, a cruise with a camera hunt in the outer isles, which include a large seal protection area (bring your own camera). The tour also includes a visit to one of the coast’s notorious hideaways from 18th-century piracy activity near the coast.

Price for 2011: 800 SEK

Everything is included in the price, independent of number of passengers. The seal safari can be booked from the beginning of June to the end of August 2011.

Guided farm visit

Råö manor farm with a lamb farm dates from the Middle Ages. Centuries of local shipping traditions have left their mark on the farm’s history. The piracy activity during the Great Northern War has also left traces.

Råö Lammgård welcomes groups of visitors of 8-16 persons to see part of the current manor farm, which dates from the year 1754 (declared a historic monument in 1994). The farmhands tell the farm’s history and a bit about the maintenance of an old building like this. Råö Lammgård can serve coffee in the manor farm’s nice 18th-century dining room by arrangement.

Price: 300 SEK basic charge plus 20 SEK per visitor. Coffee etc is available to order at an additional cost.

From the E6, take exit 59 to Kungsbacka Syd and Onsala. Head for Onsala. By Onsala Church, continue straight across the roundabout to Mariedal. Drive straight through Mariedalskrysset towards Råö. Approx 200 metres after Mariedal, keep left at the fork in the road and follow the sign for Råö Lammgård 2.
