Head downtown to stroll and shop
Halland has five main towns, all of which have a proper, lively downtown area with pedestrian zones and a great diversity of shops. Shopaholics can pick and choose between well-known chain stores and delightful little one-of-a-kind boutiques.
Gekås – one of Sweden’s most visited destinations
Every year, over 3.7 million people from Sweden, Norway and Denmark make a pilgrimage to the small town of Ullared, east of Falkenberg. They are all heading for one place, the Gekås Ullared discount superstore, where you will find clothing, groceries and other products in huge quantities. Every ten minutes, five days a week, a transport truck arrives at Gekås with new goods. Alongside the main store, there are numerous other outlets, eating places and cafés for you to browse and enjoy.
Kungsbacka too is something of a mecca for shoppers, being home to Freeport, the only designer outlet in west Sweden. Freeport is a self-contained retail village with around 40 outlets selling many famous brands of clothing at low prices. Freeport has one of Sweden’s biggest children’s activity centres, the Jungle Room. Kungsbacka has another mall as well, Kungsmässan, with around 80 stores and likewise a kids’ zone, called Children’s World.
